Pleural Mesothelioma Cancer
It is very common for mesothelioma to be found in the mesothelial membrane or pleural lining that surrounds the human lungs. Over half of all the mesothelioma cases will develop in the pleural mesothelium or lung linings. Because of this pleural mesothelioma is called cancer of the lung lining.
Other Mesotheliomas
The other kinds of mesothelioma cases are found to develop in the peritoneal mesothelium in the abdomen and are called peritoneal mesothelioma. In rare cases mesothlioma can occur in other mesothelial tissues such as around the heart or it may be found in the reproductive organs and is called pericardial mesothelioma.
